The sunflower symbolizes many things in many faiths and belief systems.  Meanings include longevity, good luck, love and happiness.  Simply Sunflowers was given its name in the hopes that the store would bring these things to the people and visitors of Plymouth, NH.  It also just so happens to be the founder's, Cheryl Avery, favorite flower!

Cheryl opened the doors on Main Street in beautiful Plymouth, NH in the fall of 2010.
In July 2013, Cheryl decided to pass the torch to her niece Jaime Pauley.

In May 2025, Jaime parted ways with Simply Sunflowers after 12 wonderful years, and passed it down to Plymouth native, Gwen Merrifield! Gwen is a recent college graduate, and is excited to bring fresh light to Simply Sunflowers. The store continues to bring light to Main Street, by collaborating with local small businesses, bringing in fresh new jewelry and accessories, and being your go-to for gifts.

The store strives to keep life simple, giving you ways to accessorize, give gifts, and find things that simply light up your day.

Meet Gwen

Born and raised in Plymouth NH, Gwen has always had a love for her small town. During her middle school years, she became passionate about fashion and empowering women through clothes, with her 20% project, where she changed jean sizes to kind words instead of numbers and was able to work with businesses in town. Throughout high school this passion continued, with her retail job at Off the Hanger, now known as Roxie Rose. At 17, she opened an online small business, G Boutique, and designed upcycled clothing and sweatshirts, and traveled around New England to markets selling her items. She then took her passion to Manhattanville University, where she pursued a degree in Digital Media and Sports Studies, and played on the Women's Basketball team. Gwen was employed in college by Bobbles and Lace, a growing women's boutique specialized in styling, where she learned from one of the fastest growing businesses in the US.

Upon Graduating, she was blessed with the opportunity to purchase Simply Sunflowers, and continue to grow her passion for boutiques, and begin her own journey. She plans to travel around the east coast with Simply Sunflowers, spreading joy throughout, and growing the small gift store to more than a brick and mortar in downtown Plymouth.
